Donate Your Car Minneapolis

Your Car Donation Can Change Many Lives

When you donate your car to Newgate School, we can provide vocational training for Minneapolis individuals looking for self-sustaining careers while offering students a way to give back to the community.

While there are dozens of non-profit organizations in and around Minneapolis that accept vehicle donations, there is only one that directly and positively impacts your community. We are the Newgate School.

A Cycle of Giving Back

Newgate School is a non-profit organization that offers vocational training for young men and women looking for a career in the automotive industry. Through the sale of donated vehicles, our school is 100% self-sufficient. In addition to training, we offer many refurbished cars to working single mothers in and around Minneapolis.

It's this cycle of training members of our community for rewarding, productive careers while helping them give back that makes Newgate one of the best non-profit organizations in Minneapolis.

Training for Stable Careers

Using donated vehicles, we provide auto mechanic and body repair training to prepare our students for a career in the automotive industry.

Our graduates often move into top apprenticeship programs as they take the next step toward a stable, satisfying career. Besides a comprehensive education in mechanics and auto body repair, our students gain essential life skills, such as problem-solving. At the same time, they develop self-confidence and a solid work ethic.

Providing Reliable Transportation to Single Mothers

One of the most important ways we help out in our community is through our Wheels for Women program. Through this program, several of the vehicles that our students restore go to local single-working mothers.

Our students recognize how having a reliable vehicle provides a lifeline to a hard-working mom who needs to get herself to work and her kids to school every day. Many of our students came from homes with a single working parent. That's why they're proud to have the opportunity to contribute to the community.

A Direct Non-Profit Donation

When you're thinking of non-profit organizations to donate your car to, you'll want to make sure your donation will be tax-deductible. Newgate School is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, so your donation is eligible for a tax deduction.

Several organizations take offerings that are actually for-profit intermediary organizations or lobbying groups without a registered 501 (c) (3) status with the Internal Revenue Service.

Be sure your donation is tax-deductible: donate your vehicle to Newgate.

When You Donate Your Car, Where Does it Go in Minneapolis?

When you donate your car, it goes directly into our training programs. Once our students have completed repairs and have restored and detailed it, we either sell it or donate it through Wheels for Women.

The sale of donated vehicles accounts for our primary funding source, allowing us to keep our training programs tuition-free.

We'll Take Care of the Title, Too!

When you're considering non-profit organizations to donate your vehicle to, make sure they immediately transfer the title. If the charity does not re-title it, you could be held liable for subsequent parking violations or if it is later involved in an accident or crime.

Newgate School is licensed on behalf of the Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services to process titles on-site. So, you don't have the hassle of dealing with DVS, and you don't have to worry about being on the hook if someone gets a parking ticket.

Ready to Donate Your Car? Choose Wisely!

When you're looking at non-profit organizations to donate your car to, choose the one that offers a hassle-free way to donate and goes the extra mile to maximize your tax deduction.

At Newgate School, we take vehicles of all kinds as long as they can be repaired and refurbished. So, if you have an old car, truck, van, or SUV that you no longer drive, give us a call. If it's non-running, we may be able to pick up the vehicle around the Minneapolis area.
