2024 GSTA Car Show

Igniting Passions and Inspiring Futures

Newgate School is always looking for ways to engage our community. That's why we were proud to have participated in the 2024 GSTA Car Show.

On the weekend of April 6th and 7th 2024, Newgate School had the exciting opportunity to participate in the 66th Annual Gopher State Timing Association (GSTA) Rod & Custom Spectacular Car Show at the Minnesota State Fair Warner Coliseum. This event was a display of over 100 of the region's top hot rods, customs, street machines, and motorcycles. It was also a celebration of automotive passion and craftsmanship.

A Weekend of Automotive Excellence

The GSTA Car Show may seem like another showcase, but it's really where car enthusiasts of all ages come together to admire the artistry and engineering of the automotive world. With vehicles carefully selected by invitation, the show provided a fantastic platform for participants to compete in various judged categories, offering a chance to win from a pool of more than $7,500 in prize money and awards.

The event was packed with interactive activities for the young (and young at heart). Children reveled in sitting inside real race cars, receiving free Hot Wheels cars, and participating in the Model Car Spectacular, an event encouraging kids and adults alike to enter their creatively built model cars and trucks.

Newgate's Presence and Impact at the 2024 GSTA Car Show

Thanks to the generous donation of a booth and other expenses by the 2024 GSTA Car Show, Newgate School was prominently featured at the show. This was a golden opportunity to engage with the community, discuss our mission, and showcase the success stories of our students and graduates.

At Newgate, we offer tuition-free training in automotive repair to underserved young adults in the Twin Cities, helping them build careers in a field they are passionate about. Our presence at the car show allowed us to spread the word about our unique educational approach and the life-changing impact we have on our student’s lives.

Supporting the Community

A portion of the show's proceeds was donated to various charitable organizations, including Newgate's "Wheels for Women"  program. This initiative empowers single mothers by providing them with reliable transportation, enabling them to achieve greater independence and stability.

At Newgate School, we are always looking for ways to give back to our community, and when you donate your vehicle or give a cash donation, it goes a long way to help those in need.

Reflections and Looking Forward

The success of the 2024 GSTA Car Show and the participation of institutions like Newgate School showcase the deep connections between education, community support, and passion for the automotive industry. Events like these are a great way to foster community spirit and inspire the next generation of automotive technicians.

The team at the Newgate School is grateful for the continued support from organizations like the GSTA and our community partners. Their support propels our mission forward and strengthens the fabric of our community.

We look forward to future events where we can continue to showcase the talents and successes of our students, and we invite everyone to join us in supporting the journey of these aspiring technicians. Newgate School Gives Back With Your Donation

When you donate your car to Newgate School in Minneapolis, MN, you give so much more than your vehicle. We provide tuition-free training to underserved young adults to help them achieve self-sufficiency.

Your donation helps our students learn the automotive mechanic skills they need to pursue a successful career as automotive technicians or autobody mechanics. Our students go on to work in places like automotive dealerships, repair shops, auto parts/supplies, and automotive service centers.

Newgate School goes beyond training. We give back to our community through programs like Wheels for Women, which gives free cars to single mothers in our area.
