The holiday season is a time for giving, and at Newgate School, the tradition of supporting hardworking single mothers through the Wheels for Women program continues. This year, through the 12 Moms of Christmas initiative, twelve deserving mothers received reliable transportation and a fresh start.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and sponsors, these mothers were presented with fully refurbished vehicles, each stocked with gifts and essentials to help them enter the new year. From safe and dependable transportation to a heartfelt reminder that their community cares, the 12 Moms of Christmas giveaway is a powerful testament to the impact of kindness.

The Impact of Wheels for Women

For over 25 years, Newgate School’s Wheels for Women program has been dedicated to providing free vehicles to single mothers in need. Through the program, donated cars are repaired by students enrolled in Newgate’s tuition-free automotive training programs and then given to women who qualify. Since its inception, the program has provided over 770 cars, creating a lasting impact on families across the Twin Cities.

The demand for reliable transportation remains high. With over 100 applications per month, the need far exceeds the number of available vehicles. That’s why support from the community, whether through donations, sponsorships, or volunteering, is vital to keeping this initiative going strong.
